These are some of my many interests:
Hunting
I enjoy hunting and the outdoors. I hunt many different animals but my favorites would be varmints, deer and turkey.
I would have to say the one I enjoy hunting the most is turkey. I have a saying “that the only predictable thing about a turkey is that they are unpredictable”.
If a turkey could smell I believe they would be impossible to harvest. Check out the
Pennsylvania Game Commission web page it has all types of interesting information. Another interesting page I visit is
Gunbroker, along the lines of Ebay but for guns and the like. Also, one of my families’ favorite stores and places to visit is the
Cabelas store in Hamburg Pa.
Triumph Spitfires
This hobby I’ve had for many, many years. I have two Triumphs. They are both MK1’s from the early 60’s. The older of the two is a 1962
and the other is a 1964. Both run and that is about it. They need a lot of work and money, two things that seem always to be in short supply.
Check out the web pages on Spitfires. The first is a
Spitfire Magazine web page showing a lot of very interesting things and how I wish my
cars looked like. The second is a parts company from Virginia
Motorhead LTD. I’ve gotten several parts from them, very helpful and easy to
deal with.
Boy this assignment has been a challenge trying to find topics in my area. I'm going to stretch a bit and list a podcast from Tom Green. About the history of technology. From 1938-1958 the age of the pioneers. The information was presented in audio form. It was longer than I wanted to listen to but had good information nontheless.
The second presenter I listened to was a teacher from a vo-tech school in Illinois Jim Falbo. His presentation ran for about a little over 5 minutes. He was discussing introductory to electricity, which we use when we make our electrically operated vehicles in the tech classes.
My last one is from the same presenter on series and parallel circuts. This topic was a little longer in time almost 7 minutes. Again I would use this when the students are making their electrically powered vehicles.

In this link Techonolgy Modules are disscussed. I have been using modules for the past 15 years at NEB and were first introduced to them in Virginia. I have used them for 7th and 8th grade.

Compare and contrast the results pages for each of the search engines. What features do you like/dislike about them?

Which of the three do you find best? Why?
1. build a mousetrap car
2. google 672,000 yahoo 326,000 ask 33,300
3. roughly 7 out of 10 on the first pages are useful
4. several of the links for building mousetrap cars
5. I narrowed the search. I listed "build a long distance mousetrap car"
6. Yes, the results primarly focus on long distance cars rather than any car, not saying that the others aren't listed.
7. To tell you the true I'm a dogpile person, I think most of the search engines are covered there. I guess I'm just used to dogpiles layout. They all seemed strange to me. I'm used to the little dog.
Ask and google are very steamlined, no frills. Whereas yahoo almost looks like a news page. More confusing, more options I guess.
8. Matt your killing me with all the questions. A lot of the results are the same from engine to engine. I guess there are just so many things you can say about mousetrap cars.
9. You know which search engine I like to use, the one I would say I least like is Ask.com. a lot of the results seemed clinical in response. I was looking for ideas and how to information and Ask was telling me how they worked more than anything. I guess if you dig long enough you can find what your looking for.
