Assignment #1

Excel

Students in my Intro to Business class will have to create a spreadsheet for a monthly Cash Payment Record.  Specific information will be given for the headings and amounts. Students will be asked to total the columns and have specific borders.  Students will then be asked to sort the information according to descending order for any of the individual column headings.

Assignment #2

PowerPoint

Students in my Business Law class will be able to view this powerpoint on Torts, Chap 6.  They will be able to review chapter information and quiz themselves on the information.  This will be good for students who are absent or for a review before a test.

Assignment #3

Virtual Reality

This Virtual Business site will enable my Intro to Business students to tour and have an idea of the business plan concept when developing their own Business Plan Project.  There are mini tours on Personal Fianancing, Sports Management, Retail, Management, and more.  There is software to purchase the actual suite of business and marketing simulations that can be used in a variety of business classes.

Assignment #4

WebQuest

This is a WebQuest I developed for my Business Law class.  It would be great to do after we complete a short Lesson on the "Constitution and Our Rights."  It also would be a great lesson to have for a day when I would be absent.  It is also one that a History teacher could use.

Assignment #5

Inspiration

This is a chart I created to diagram the concepts of a vaild, binding contract.  I could use it in my Business Law class to better explain a valid, binding contract  This diagraming or flowchart process could be used in almost any class.  Students could be assigned to diagram or flowchart our Court Systems (Federal, Sate, Local) or the even the Litigation Procedure.

I also think this is better for younger students; but it could be beneficial for a student as an extra credit project or for displaying many concepts on a bulletin board or during a presentation.  I allow my Intro to Business students to do bulletin boards for extra credit and this could assist them in creating a neater, more professional look to their finished project.

Assignment #6

Chat Room

I would utilize a chat room as extra credit in my Business Law class.  I would check the Court TV channel to see what cases are relevant to what we are currently

studying and inform the students of the date and time period to watch.  Anyone who is able to access the appropriate channel can then log on to our designated

chat room site and as a group we can discuss the case as it is developing in the courtroom.  The chat room would be open during the TV channel’s session and then

for an additional 30 minutes after the case (show) was over.  This would allow for further discussion.  Chat room participates would be required to be on for at least

one hour (an individual court case may be on for a 3-hour time period), and as a student would be reminded to use appropriate language.

Pros:    More realist approach to law.

Students who are not as expressive (the quiet ones) in class may feel more inclined to actively participate.

Cons:   Not everyone will have access to the required TV channel.

Not all students will have time to watch.

You cannot be sure that the student is the active participant in the chat room.

I also think a chat room site would be great for faculty who are on the same committee, ie the Principal's Council.  The chatroom would

allow those on the committee to chat (voice their thoughts) for a week or more before the meeting.  Some of us on the committee do not

see each other during the course of a regular day to have a discussion; and if we cannot make the meeting, at least our input or thoughts

would have been expressed to others.

Assignment #7

Blog

I would use a Blog for my Intro to Business students to discuss, comment, express their thoughts on the Business Plan Project

presentation of the day.   I would create and monitor the students accounts.  Since the presentations are usually a class period long, the

blog would allow students to comment later in the day and to compare the presentations over the 7 days of presentations.  This would

also allow the presenter to take an active part in expressing comments or thoughts of his/her own presentation.
