Computers for Classroom Teachers

Hi!  I'm Barb Carl.  I teach third grade at Lynch-Bustin Elementary in Athens.  I have been teaching there for about 10 years.  I am been married to a wonderful man named Jim, and have been for 28 years.  We have two children, Tim (24 years old) and Jaimie (21years old.)  Tim still lives at home (and probably always will) and is famous for his "knock, knock" jokes.  Try one.  Knock, knock.  Who's there?  Emerson.  Emerson who?  (You'll have to ask him for the punch line!  Jaimie is at home summers ,when not a student at Mansfield University.  My family means everything to me!  I love teaching but look forward to summertime.  I use this time to enjoy some "good"  books and catch up on my "spring cleaning."

List of assignments:

Group Projects

Project 1: United Streaming Power Point

Our group previewed the site and each took a component to tell about.  We each created a few slides to highlight our section.  Then we presented the entire slide show to the class.  I learned so much about united streaming, and plan to use it in my classroom for a lot more that just showing videos!

Project 2:  Del.icio.us      Our group created a link  for third grade teachers.  We included sites that dealt with math, language arts, social studies, science, and general content.

Individual Projects

Unit Transformation Project

In the past, I have done a writing research project to go along with the book Charlotte's  Web.  To incorporate technology into this activity, I decided to have the students create a slide show with a partner.  This would be a culminating activity after completing the book.

I liked how your powerpoint just keep going without having
to click on each slide.....I'll have to try that.
Have a good year in 2007-2008!
