Lesson Plans
1. Podcasts
My class does a classbook each year where they create a picture and story to go along with it. We then send the book away to a publishing company to be bounded with hard covers for the students to purchase if they wish. I would like to be able to scan the book pages and have the students then read their stories into snapkast to create a podcast of the class book that they could share with their families from home or some other location.
2. Expert Systems
I would like to put a powerpoint presentation together that goes in non-sequential order. An example that I could use with my kindergarten students is indentifying beginning sounds in which they need to pick the picture that goes along with the letter that they are presented with. If they choose the incorrect answer it would take them to a frown face and then they can return to try again and if they answer it correctly it would take them to a smiley face and then let them continue on.
3. Virtual Technologies
The idea of taking a virual trip thought a historic site would be very interesting to my age students. Our class takes a field trip each year to AnimaLand to study various forms of wildlife. I would like to find a virual tour of a zoo or perhaps surfari in which my students could take a tour and learn about a few of the animals that they are going to see on the field trip, prior to actually going on the field trip.
4. Semantic Networking - Kidspiration
The kidspiration has a few activities that I would be able to use, probably later in the year of kindergarten or perhaps with my higher level students.
The one category that I really liked was the grouping of objects and how they are alike and different. I feel my students would be able to do the work of categorizing the objects and dragging them to the appropriate groups, where they might need help is the the second step of writing the reasong for their decisions.
5. Mobile technologies
I would like to use turning point as a review for my students. Not just answering the questions in the presentations would be beneficial for kindergarten students but also just using the remote answering devices. This would help them in number recognition in their answers and also would be very helpful for developing their fine motor skills having to push the correct small buttons to answer questions correctly. Specifically I would use this program for sight word reviews, beginning sound recognition, patterns, etc. The thing with kindergarten students I would either need to make slides that use more pictures for answers and questions or do more of the lesson orally as a whole group.
