 Day 1

Google

I found out some new things when we used the Google site yesterday. I had never had a Google account before, but it was pretty easy to set up and follow along. The advanced search part of the  google search was useful for myself since I had not used that before. The practice with the Google docs was the most beneficial because I do not have Word on my home computer anymore and I feel that I can not get some things done at home but with this new feature it should make some things much easier.

Day 2

Microsoft Publisher - I created a banner for my classroom using microsoft publisher. This was much easier than using a word template and there were many more options that you could use and the details that went with the banner were of much higher quality.

Excel

We learned how to put a spreadsheet together including all the members of our class. We used details like what grade they teach, what school they teach at, and where they went to college. We worked on being able to sort and filter the information according to different types of criteria. We worked on making a chart so we could see our information in a more visual appealing manner. The last task we worked on was creating a math quiz using the spreadsheet in which we were able to hide columns so that the answers could not be seen and we were also able to adjust the color of the print of the answers depending on if they were correct or not.

Day 3

Here is the picture that I resized and cropped using Microsoft Picture Manager and then inserted on the Wiki page.

Individual Project

Using my IPod in the classroom

I would like to learn some various ways to learn how to use my IPod in my Kindergarten classroom. I am just learning myself about all of the things that my IPod can do with music, videos and games. One of the extra devices that I would need to buy would be a recorder for my IPod so I would be able to record my own voice or the students record their voices onto the IPod. If I had this part I could record stories right onto the IPod for students to listen to or to read along with in the class and many different activities. Here are a few links of sites that explains how teachers are using their IPods and what programs they need to make the process easier.

Using music to learn math

When you think of IPod the first thing that comes to mind id ITunes. ITunes works with various companies as a partnership to let teachers and students download educational videos and games that might be beneficial in the classroom enviornment. Sesame Street works with them to make valuable life lessons available for download unto one's Ipod.

Sesame Street Videos

On my own IPod, I only have a few games downloaded and they are just for fun and entertainment. I was able to find a site that you could create your own games and then be able to download them onto the IPod.  This site would work well for me if I want to create games that would be on level for Kindergarten students( Rhyming, letter sounds, math facts).

Create your own game.

The final resource that I found was a list of lesson plans that teachers have used already using their IPods and these included various subjects and various grade levels.
