Hi! My name is Colleen Hanafin and I currently teach 2nd grade at H. A. Snyder Elementary in Sayre. I have been teaching for 14 years now and I am still enjoying myself. I work with a great group of teachers who are always willing to lend a helping hand when needed!
I am married and have 3 beautiful boys that keep us very busy, but I wouldn't have it any other way! I enjoy spending time with family, shopping, and cooking.

Lesson Plans:
Podcast
My group, Matt Viselli, Penny White, Andy Watkins, Sue VanAllen, Greg DeHaan, and myself created a podcast on the water cycle. This will be used to teach and review the various stages in the water cycle process. It is used as a visual to make the learning of the water cycle come to life.
Inspiration
I would like to use the inspiration program to create graphic organizers with my students. These organizers will be used to review the main idea and detail sentences of a paragraph. The students would then use their graphic organizer to put their paragraph together.
Virtual Tours
One virtual tours site that I like to use in my classroom is United Streaming. I use this site to supplement the themes that go along with our reading series.

Digital Photography
I use digital photography in my classroom when we go on field trips. The children enjoy being able to look back at the fun we had on our trips. We will also use those photos to remind us what we saw, what our favorite things were, and other interesting facts. We then use the photos to do a writing about their field trip experience.
Power Point
I am still a bit sketchy on how to actually put together a power point presentation. I do think that it is something that the more of it you do, the better you get at it. It is something that I would like to continue to play around with and use more in my classroom. One area that I would like to incorporate it into would be my math curriculum. I think that it would be great to do a powerpoint on a fractions lesson. I would also use it to go over the different steps in solving a math story problem.
