Danielle Hannon's Wiki Page
Oh my, where do I begin?! I am a physical education and health teacher at Wyalusing which means I am all over the school teaching various subjects to seventh through twelfth graders. I am also a mom to two girls ages three and one. Of course I am also a wife, dishwasher, cook, and occasionally garbage-take-outer among other side jobs both at home and work.

Assignment #4 - Podcast
1. a) Anyone can do it! Ok, that's the answer but seriously, we have teachers who still have problems with Gradequick!!
b) No scheudling as tv programs are! It's on demand and usually free. It's easy to use, offers a wide variety of shows, and you just subscribe to it.
c) Gadgetry. It's portable and can be used on your computer or MP3 player, etc.
2. NO.
3. Watch on computer too.
4. a) No show times.
b) Take it with you.
c) All kinds of info!! Hmm...I have some questions like why do people cut their nails in public places, i.e. faculty room. Was the science student teacher for real or is he part of homeland security or something....ok back to my assingment.
5. a) CDC-center for disease control podcast. It was a little dry, but had current information about physical education and school health policies.
b) Edinboro University HPED podcast - This was pretty cool because it was from a University. There were actually 4 podcasts available to listen to. The one I chose was "Spark" which talked about research that shows exercise is the best defense against depression, ADD, addiction, aggression, menopause, and even Alzheimer's disease.
c) The last one I listened to was information from Gerry Cernicky about physical education. At first, I thought this was going to be hilarious, but it turned out he is a professor and had a few interesting lesson ideas for p.e.
d) OK, not educational...I do try to catch the Grey's Anatomy podcast from time to time. : )
Congrats to your Phillies!!
Assignment #5 - Video
This was harder than I thought. A lot of the movies are pretty bad or boring in the health/physical education department, especially in teachertube.
Video #1

This was from united streaming and is a video that gives four scenarios on what to do if someone you know is considering suicide. It's student-made, but it's a good topic that my 9th grade health kids may remember by seeing it rather than just listening to me talk.
Video #2

This was on NBC's Today show. I would use it as an introduction to my mental health unit in 9th grade health. I have actually considered showing this on the computer in the room I am in and having students crowd around it (sort-of like the way people would crowd around an am radio. Until this year, however, the computer in room #39 didn't havce speakers).
Video #3

I guess I would use this teacher tube video as an introduction/supplement for my HIV units in either 7th or 9th grade. It is a video where doctors and scientists discuss the basic information about HIV and what we can do about it. It would be a nice way to start out and get the students thinking about the subject.
Projector? I don't have a room. I travel. I have a desk drawer in "Mr. Loomis' room" and I teach in a history teacher's room for the first semester. I do not have a projector. Mr. Haley does, but he usually has it set up for his lessons. I wish I did, but I don't and I don't see much hope in getting one. I couldn't even get a printer this past year. One year when our "budget wishlist" came out, I mentioned I would like a palm pilot since I am outside or throughout the school and it would be convienent for grading, etc. I was laughed at!! Ok, I was a little naive. I have since given up...I only ask for pens now and hope they have not dried out from being in the closet for 27 years.
