My name is Dave Steinfelt and I teach agriculture and advise the Athens FFA Chapter at Athens Area High School. I am a graduate of Penn State University and have been teaching for 6 years. My wife and I live in Athens and have a small hobby farm and like to show holstein dairy cattle at the Troy Fair.

PowerPoint/Excel/Inspiration

Below are some pwerpoints I like to use in class. These ar not non linear but they are good.

Here is an idea of a non linear powerpoint and how I would use it in class. I have not made the power point yet but will soon.

I would like to make a dichotomous key for trees and plants for identification purposes using a non linear power point. I would also incorporate pictures so students will be more likely to be certain they are choosing the correct slide.

Five Lesson plans using information gathered from this course using technology

1.  I would like to have students make a dichotomus key for trees and plants using a non linear powerpoint. Students will have to use the pa bureau of forestry website to find pictures and then create the powerpoint based on leaf shape, bark patterns etc. This will be used in great length by students who will be competing in FFA events both locally and within the state.

2.  Students will be using digital photography to create recruitment packets to gain new FFA membership. They will be taking photos of FFA events and activities to make a brochure, packet or other item they choose for student recruitment and public information.

Virtual technology

The links below are for students in all grade levels. The first link has many different virtual tours and videos that would be useful to anyone teaching agriculture. The second link would be great for the younger students. The third also has a host of virtual tours of agricultural industries in PA.

Webquest

Here you will find just a few examples of webquests that can be modified to fit your specific content area. Many of these could be considered ready to use. The ones I have listed are for forestry, agricultural terrorism and Hello Dolly which is about cloning. No reason to reinvent the wheel when all of these great resources are already available to you.

Great web quest links. And I totally agree - why reinvent the wheel when there's so much out there already.
