My name is Greg DeHaan, and I teach fourth grade at H.A. Snyder Elementary in Sayre, PA. Included on this page are the numerous technology topics that I mastered :) during this course.
MS EXCEL
Microsoft Excel has numerous uses. Previously, I have used it for schedules. One example is when I schedule Field Day events for our elementary school's Field Day. The sorting option is an additional feature I will now use when using MS Excel.
GOOGLE
Google has a lot to offer. Google Documents allows one to create many Microsoft Office like documents without actually have Microsoft. Below are a few GOOGLE gadgets I found including a delicious gadget.
Plugin error: googlegadget (Plugin not found ../common/plugins/googlegadget.inc)
DELICIOUS
Delicious.com is a useful website for saving bookmarks either as an individual or as a group resource. The bookmarks are always there as long as you have internet access. One can easily go from one computer to another and have the same bookmarks.

MS PUBLISHER
Below are publisher documents I created for Open House this upcoming school year. The first two documents are student tickets to Open House for a drawing they may enter when they attend. The second pair of documents are the parent letter to send home. They are linked as pdf files in case MS Publisher is not on a computer. In Publisher, manipulating pictures is made much easier than in MS Word. There are numerous ways to make publications such as newletters, invitations, and cards for print. I find the templates very useful when using MS Publisher.

CREATING A BASIC GRAPHIC
Using the paint program, I found clip art of a wolf to copy and paste. Then I resized it, and added red eyes with text.
Pride, Power, and Pinstripes was a photograph I resized in MS Picture Manager. Then I cropped that and changed the brightness for the next photo.

USING MACROMEDIA FIREWORKS
At the top of the page I created my name through Macromedial Fireworks. Fireworks is a useful program for manipulating the shape, size, style, and color of text in ways that are impossible in other programs. After creating text in Macromedia Fireworks, one can use it in other documents or web pages.
Gimp.org is an image manipulation program that is a FREE and similar to the expensive Fireworks and Photoshop programs. There is a link below.

SMART TABLET
Here is a link to photos and descriptions of how we use
our smart tablets at H.A. Snyder Elementary School.
SNYDER ELEMENTARY SMART TABLETS LINK
BELOW ARE A FEW WAYS I USE MY SMART TABLET DAILY:
Each day in MATH I use my smart tablet to introduce the lesson using Saxon Math's CDRom Book. After demonstrating the daily lesson, my favorite part is letting students take control of the tablet. Allowing students to work out problems on the smart tablet in front of the class really gets everyone involved and paying attention. Also by having the same problems on the big screen, it's easy to demonstrate how to underline and find important math words.
For PSSA reading and math review, I find the topic I want on STUDYISLAND.COM to discuss and solve together on the big screen.
A cool website to introduce the SCIENCE topic of OWL PELLETS on the big screen that I use is http://www.kidwings.com/owlpellets/index.htm .
A great TIMER I use for different tasks to keep the kids on task can be found at http://www.vickiblackwell.com/timer.html .
