INSYS 447 is a hands-on course. We will spend the week creating a variety of multimedia projects and also discuss how you can get your content out there for people to see. Please keep in mind that we will be working with each other and helping each other as we go, but each person's goal by the end of the week is to leave with material that he/she can use in his/her classroom.
Multimedia-base
For this assignment, you are to build a base of multimedia resources available to you via the Internet that you can utilize in your classroom. It is recommended that you utilize a site like del.icio.us for gathering links to your resources. You may also incorporate material from a site like UnitedStreaming.com. Resources can be video files, audio files, dynamic powerpoint presentations, or related materials.

Non-linear PowerPoint Presentation
For this assignment, you are to create a presentation on a topic in your subject area that incorporates video clips and/or audio clips and the use of a non-linear scheme. The length of your presentation is up to you, but it should include the use of action buttons and should be usable by students without you. That is, it should be designed so that they can access the presentation in a computer lab or via the Internet outside of school.
It is recommended that the presentation present information (either new information or review information) including video clips and/or audio clips that the students can watch/listen to and then ask pertinent questions on the material.

Instructional Video
Using a video camera and video editing software, you are to create a short video with material that can serve as instruction in your classroom. This can be a video on a particular topic that is in your curriculum, a how-to video on a topic related to something you do in your classroom, or a related topic.
Another option is to shoot and edit video that can be used within your PowerPoint assignment listed above.
There is not a specific time requirement, but a straightforward video that would be used as an instructional piece or a how-to video should be approximately 5 minutes in length. If you choose to use video clips that are to be embedded in a PowerPoint presentation, the legnth can vary greatly.
Edited video should incorporate audio voice-overs and music tracks. Additionally, the use of title and credits graphics is encouraged.
Digital Storytelling Video
This assignment for most of you won't be a strict digital story by the requirements of digital storytelling. But, your requirements are as follows:
- Your story should be about 5 minutes long.
- You should use a continuous series of still pictures that have an audio track and voice overs.
- Your story should be something that you can use in your classroom.
