Jackie Bishop
I live in Ulster. I have 2 children. I enjoy gardening, playing the piano and
reading. I'm a Life Skills teacher in Towanda. I enjoy having my students
for several years! We have fund raisers, go bowling, cook, make projects,
and play educational games in addition to completing individual academic
work.
Assignments
Group Projects:
Team 1 - A power point presentation explaining United
Streaming. United Streaming has a lot of
cool stuff --- it's not just videos!
United Streamingfinal.ppt
Team 2 - Using del.icio.us we tagged resources for teaching math using
music. Some sites have CDs you can purchase. One site has
lots of songs that teach math facts. You can listen to part of
the song, but then you have to purchase it and download it.
Lots of sites have free songs or the words to songs available.
Individual Projects :
Blog- I'm going to use my blog as a parent information page. I'll give
the parents the URL and encourage them to log on and read about
what's going on in our classroom. I'll show my students how to log on.
They'll probably bug their parents into taking a look at it. I can post
when library books and book orders are due, special activities, field
trip information, etc. on my blog.
Unit Transformation Project - This is a power point presentation showing
various types of farms. It is called At the Farm.ppt I normally would show
my students pictures in books when I introduce a new concept.
Watching it on the computer will have more impact and hopefully
be more memorable for them. The colors, pictures, animation and
sounds should keep them focused. I'm going to show this the day I tell
them we're going on a field trip to a farm and explain what kind of
farm we will be visiting.
Course Web Page - This is the course web page. I have a little
bit about myself, a description of the assignments I completed for
this class and links to view each assignment.
