Welcome to my Wiki page! My name is Linda. I am a K-4 Music teacher in the Troy Area School District.
What we will be doing in this course:
Day 1:Google and Del.icio.us
Exploring Google and Google options: I set up a gmail account which I didn't have and I found it to be user friendly. http://www.google.com/
I also worked with a group to establish a del.icio.us account: Clints KidsWorking with this account we will set up tags using our areas of teaching to link webpages to our account.
Day 2:Spreadsheets and Word vs Publisher
Explored Spreadsheets and Word vs Publisher. I have a very limited knowledge of how to use the Spreadsheet feature.
Desktop Publisher: This can be a valuable tool to use in the classroom setting. Examples of how I would use Publisher in Music class would be to generate newsletters to parents, Invitations to school programs, Recital programs, Brouchures for Troy Youth Arts Camp......signs for classroom centers.....endless possibilities.
Day 3:Desktop Publisher and Graphics. We added graphics to our pages which were edited throughMacromedia Fireworks 8program too. Thiswas very informative and will be useful in projects for the fall.
Day 4:Organizing Emailand Inspiration (Kidspirationtoo)- With this information we were able to add folders to our inboxes where mail received by the senders would go directly into the folder made for the sender.
Final Project: Using the Ipod in the Music Classroom.
1. Listening Centers: Using created playlists students can listen to assigned song and write a reflection about their reaction to the music.
2. Podcasts: Students would be able to create their own podcast during their enrichment time spent in the Music classroom.
3. Audiobooks: Students would be able to listen to the story read to them using the Ipod. This would be a great tool for the students who struggle with reading.
4. Music for the classroom- Teacher can create playlist for the week that would correspond with their lessons.
5. Recording studio: Students would be able to record their own voices into the Ipod by using the sound recorder.
6. Playlists can be created to be used by the substitute teacher.
