Morrison's First Wiki

My Bio...

I am a 9th grad American History teacher at Wyalusing, PA.  My family and I moved here from the Gettysburg area four years ago.  We all love to play sports and enjoy coaching, playing or watching sports.  As I mentioned in the title this is my first wiki.  I feel very comfortable with technology and use it all the time.  However, I have never had a wiki or a blog so I am learning alot in the summer of '07.  I hope you enjoy your visit to my wiki and that I continue to learn new things.

Research and Presentation

  • What's New?  In a group we researched new trends in education using technology.  We selected WebQuest because during class discussion there were members of the class that had never heard the word WebQuest.  I have made my own WebQuest and use WebQuest in my class multiple time a year.  So we researched the topic and created a PowerPoint to explain our finding to the class.

Section 2: Blog

  • In class I was taught how to create my own blog.  I created one that could be used for class to create a discussion area for my students to discuss the year.  Then I started one for myself and my friends.  I sent them an email to invite them to my blog and now we are chatting in the blog instead of text messaging so much.

Section 3: Team 2 Project

  • My Content!  In a group of two we created a del.icio.us account.  This account allows us to share links that will be helpful to the two of us.  We created tags to help organize our links and can now save interesting websites in a storage facility that is accessible anywhere and by both of us.  Great find and a valid replacement  for bookmarks or favorites.

Section 4: Unit Transformation

  • In class we had to take a unit or project and transform it using technology.  I use powerpoint every week during a unit but they powerpoints are a bit haphazard and videos and links were not really included.  I would always have to end the powerpoint and then go to the internet and go to my site.  It was time consuming and did not really reflect the capability of powerpoint.  So I chose to transform my Constitution & Government unit and created an all inclusive powerpoint that will span six weeks in length and has numerous lessons built right in.
