Good morning. My name is Lynda Coates. I am the nurse at Northeast Bradford School District. I found this class rather challenging. I never took a typing class as I was busy taking science and math classes so even using the keyboard is teadious. Google docs is greek to me but does sound like something that I could use. I do use Google to seek out information on a regular basis. Setting up the del.icio.us was ok if someone walked me through each time. My mind is feeble and I have to do things over and over in order to retain the info.
Good Wednesday morning. Yesterday our class learned about spreadsheets. These would work with compiling BMI information. We also worked on desktop publisher. I made a letterhead to use at school. I could probably use publisher to make a mass note to send home regarding my lesson on puberty. Unfortunately, I know little about Excel. But I have been exposed to it. I ask my son to help me on the computer. This reference will be leaving home next year so I need to do things for myself. It is evident that the younger students in this class are more computer savy than the older group of students even the older more computer literate students.
Thursday has arrived! Yesterday I added the picture of the dinosuars and added the name graphic at the top of this notation. The graphics are rather interesting to play around with. Graphics could be used to add to my letters to home to make them more interesting. We covered inspiration and e-mail this morning.

Lynda C 440s08 FINAL PROJECT --- I presently use MMS for schools at work. I have access to addresses, grades, discipline, and attendance. On these sites I have only view priviledges. There ia a nursing compotent. Unfortunately, I have had very little inservice on this compotent--one hour during the school day with interruptions of phone calls and student concerns. I would like to use this nursing component. I will ask, suggest to my administration that on an inservice day that I might have an opportunity to explore the nursing component on MMS. I also use the school dining system on an almost daily basis to enter the free lunch applications, create reports, and provide verification for the state.

Lynda,
I love that you can track students to see how often they have been absent and from what subjects. Keep up the geat work as a school nurse!

Lynda,
Good luck with your continued learning on the computer. It was good to hear about what a school nurse goes through in their school day.

It sounds like training is always lacking for new technology. We have experienced it too. It is frustrating!
Glad you were here this week!
