Lesson Plans
As a life skills teacher of a mainly multihandicapped classroom, the actual use of interactive technology with my students is limited. I see myself as using most of the programs we have been exposed to over the past few days as a way to enhance my delivery of materials to my students. Most of my students do not have the ability to actually use some of these technologies, but will benefit from me enhancing my lessons using them.
Virtual technologies
Most of my students have very limited experiences due to their physical limitations. Accessing the vast amout of virtual
tours that are avaliable would allow me to give them exposure to places and thing they otherwise never know about.
Digital camera
I currently use digital cameras in my classroom all the time. I use them to do things as simply as labeling students
belongings with their pictures to documenting the many community trips that we take. I send pictures of our trips
home with my nonverbal students. This allows them to share what they did with parents and other family members.
Podcasting
I can see myself using podcast as a way of teahing my students the steps in many types of daily living skills. Creating
a podcast of the steps to brush your teeth. The students would get the visual modeling they require without me
having to actually brush my teeth as a model for them everyday with each individual student.
Expert Systems
Now that I am more comfortable with PowerPoint I think I will put some of the skills that I cover in a PowerPoint
presentation that can be viewed over and over. Providing the repetitiveness that my students require in learning
skills.
Online Collaboration tools
My students all have individual communication notebooks that I write in and send home everyday. Parents can then
write back to me the following day. By setting up a Wiki and allowing parents access to this I could eliminate the
actual notebook that the students often lose or forget to give their parents.
