We made a Working with Words podcast. During this Podcast you can view an overview of what working with words is and different ideas and games to implement into your working with words block.
Power Point
RhymeTime show.pps
We made a power point titled Rhyme Time. It is an interactive power point, which allows students to click on buttons to rhyme word family words. This could be used for many different subjects.
Virtual Tour
virtual tour.ppt
We made a virtual tour of how to get coffee before going to class at the Blast center!
Lesson Plans
Here are some ways that I will use some of the exciting things I learned in class!
Power Point
I plan to use the interactive power point in my class by having my students practice reading and rhyming word family words. The student will go through the power point and click on the word that rhymes with the picture. If they get it correct, they will see a smiley face. If they get it incorrect, they will see a frown face and have to go back and pick the correct answer.
Virtual Tour
I plan on using a virtual tour for my Chesapeake Bay Watershed unit. I will take pictures of the Susquehanna River. I will then take pictures on my way to the Chesapeake Bay and of the Chesapeake Bay area. The students will be able to see first hand what the habitats surrounding the Bay look like.
Digital Cameras
I plan on using a digital camera to take pictures of my students. I will then use their pictures in big books that we write together. When the students read the books we write, they will see themselves as the characters.
Online Collaboration
I plan on using a Wiki to share ideas with other teachers. I am the only First Grade teacher at my school so a Wiki would allow me to give and receive information from other teachers in my district and in other districts.
I would also like to keep my web page updated so that parents and family members of my students can see what we are working on in class.
Podcasts
I will use Podcasts in my classroom so that families can see their student's Reader's Theater performance. My students perform many Reader's Theaters throughout the school year for other classes in our school. A podcast would allow people outside the school to see their child perform in the Reader's Theater.
