Welcome to Session 5!
Tonight we will talk about the risks involved with online communication and begin work on your group projects.
Group Project
This project is intended to give participants in the Internet Safety course an opportunity to engage in at least one in-depth learning experience.
Groups must choose, at least, one of the following topics:
Cyber Harassment
Online Bullying and Stalking: focus on definitions of “rules,” “laws,” and “consequences” to victim and perpetrator. Develop a school anti-cyber bullying policy. Host an informative presentation in class.
Online Relationships
Focus on the concept of willing participation in online relationships with strangers and the roles that predators play. Develop a strategy to gather data for dealing with Internet Issues and concerns from the school population. Host an informative presentation in class.
Legal Trends in Internet Safety
Focus on the current legal trends concerning the Internet. Write a model letter to a policy maker concerning a legal cyber security/safety issue. Host an informative presentation in class.
Culture of the Internet and Online Freedoms
Focus on Internet-related laws in the United States and how other countries compare. Host a presentation for adults about Internet safety issues.
Pornography on the Web
Focus on the problems associated with the ease of access to pornography on the Internet. Host a presentation to teach K-12 students about harms of pornography.
Cyber Citizenship
Focus on hacking and hactivism, steganography, potentials of terrorist use of the Internet, and associated legal consequences. Host a presentation on techniques to protect computers from external threats.
