PowerPoint

The PowerPoint I created was for using sign numbers.  I would have this on the computer the day before a quiz.  I would have them run through the PowerPoint as a pre-quiz.  It would help give them an idea of what the quiz would be like.

 Podcast

Our podcast was on order of operations.  We used power point to create this.  We then uploaded it to podcast and added audio.  I would use this when introducing multi-step problems.

Virtual Tour

The virtual tour was of Jamie Lou's restaurant in Canton, Pa.  We took pictures while dining at the restaurant.  We created a power point and set this to music.

Lesson Plans

1.  Podcasting - In class, I would create a podcasting power point and add audio.  I would use this at the beginning of lessons as an introduction.  Another thing I will be using teachertube to find other podcasts when I need them.  This is a great tool for introducing and reviewing.

2.  Powerpoint-  PowerPoint is an excellent tool for notes, quizzes, etc.  It gives me a guide to what needs to be covered.  I can also attach my powerpoints to my webpage and the students can have access at home.  It is easy to print off of for note taking.  I can create practice quizzes using active buttons.

3.  Turning Point- If I don't want to add action buttons to my power point there is a great program called turning point which our school has.  I would create questions for my class through power point.  Each student would have a remote (which I know they would love) that they would use to answer the question.  I would set a timer so that we spend a certain amount of time with each question.  This is a great review source for review.  We can discuss each question as we go along.  It is also great for pop quizzes.

4.  Spreadsheets - Microsoft excel is great when using charts and graphs.  In my math 9 course we do alot with charts.  I could have them collect data and then we could use the computer lab to inport it into excel.  Graphing is a math standard that has become more visible in the past decade.  It is on the PSSA tests and it is an important concept to understand.  Making Microsoft excel a necessary in the classroom setting.  Students are able to obtain data and enter into the spreadsheet and are able to create plethora of graphs using several different colors and styles.  I can be fun as well to see a graph after doing all the work prior.

5.  Inspiration - I would use a web when creating study guides.  I would take topics and have off of each one  we could add several more.  I could do this by myself.  I could start the web and have the students help me finish it.  I could let them create this. I don't do a lot of writing in my math class.  This program would be excellent when prewriting.  I would love to set up a PSSA web list so we knew where we were when studyng for the PSSA's.
