Critique district's Acceptable Use Policy using given criteria

 

 

I have read our district's Acceptable Use Policy and would rate it as

"good".  It covers purpose, internet access, liability,violations, and

give guidelines for students.  It is "contract" that must be signed by

students and parents/guardians.  I question how many parents acually

sit down with their child and discuss this contract.  I believe that

many times it gets glanced at, signed, and returned.  There are some

grey areas that may not be understood by students or parents,

especially if the parent has a limited education or is a digital

immigrant.

Develop a personal course of study for professional growth

     I am unsure where I would like my professional career to go.  I definitely plan on using the technology learned in this class, as well as in educ 464, in my classroom in a variety of different ways.  I used a program from Microsoft called Digital Image Suite to create photos of students in a variety of different characters.  Students then did a creative writing based on their character.  This was very popular with my class and they did a wonderful job.  I will definitely use this again.  Also I plan to use other technology like the plants and animals links above to further enrich the curriculum.  I will use information obtained in this course for many years to come.
