I am a third grade teacher at Snyder Elementary and have been teaching for twenty-eight years. I love my job and the people I work with. They are a great bunch! I live in Athens with my husband Ric and our two cats. I have a daughter Ashley and a son Cody. Ashley is a grad student at Xavier in Cincinnatti, and Cody attends I U P in Indiana, Pa. I enjoy spending time cooking and gardening and reading.

Pod cast : My group, Andy Watkins, Colleen Hanafin, Matt Viselli, Sue Van Allen, Greg DeHaan and myself created a podcast on the Water Cycle. This would enhance the learning stages of the water cycle.
Power Point : I am a little confused on how to put together a power point presentation at this time, but think that it is something that if used more would get the hang of it. I feel it could be very useful tool in the classroom, especially in our science and social studies curriculum.I would use power point to teach about the Hopi Indians and other tribes.
Inspiration: I would use inspiration with prewriting Christmas stories with my students. They have been doing writings and reports and this could be used to review language mechanics.
Virtual Technology: I use United Streaming as one virtual tour site, it enhances our reading themes in our reading series. Webcams are useful for science and social studies.

Webquest: First, a good webquest puts the power of the web behind your topic. You can show students - or let them discover for themselves, not just tell them. Web sites can take your students anywhere in the world. Webquests are a way to let students work at their own pace, either individually or in teams. A webquest lets students explore selected areas in more depth, but within limits that you have selected. This makes webquests ideal for classes which combine students with different ability levels.
Webquests offer a different, more dynamic approach to teaching the value of research.
Webquests can also increase the "comfort level" of students using the Internet for learning activities. While your students are probably already computer literate, a properly designed webquest can help students become creative researchers rather than simply "surfing" from one site to another.

Digital Cameras: I have used digital cameras in my classroom quite often. They are great when special guest are doing a presentation, field trips, bulletin boards and classs yearbooks. They also make nice projects for the students to take home.

Great wiki page Penny! I loved the panda cam. I plan on taking my class to that soon and check out the other animal cams at the Nat'l zoo.

Penny,
I loved your web cam of the pandas. For a person who says that they get nervous in front of a crowd, you did a great job!

United streaming is awesome. I saw you had a link for it. I just used it yesterday during a science lesson on ecosystems with the help of the new projection screens we just had connected in our classes. You probably showed your class the pandas website.
